ABOUT
Introduction
I'm Crystal Moore, the artist behind the scroll saw. Based in the heartland of America, I specialize in wood intarsia - a woodworking technique that transforms carefully selected pieces of natural wood into dimensional images. Whether it's a vibrant cardinal, a peaceful scene, or a beloved family pet, each piece is handcrafted with
care and intention.

The Journey
My woodworking journey began in Dec 2021 when my husband gifted me a small portable scroll saw. Truth is, I didn't even know what a scroll saw was at the time, but he thought I'd like it. I was instantly addicted and upgraded my scroll saw only a month later. I started off with simple projects, such as puzzles, then worked on some fretwork, including a custom portrait of one of my dogs and a 3D fretwork clock.

Then, I came across "intarsia" in the Scroll Saw Woodworking magazine and haven't looked back. I now have a nice shop space in my basement and have immensely expanded my knowledge and expertise in the field of intarsia, including creating my own patterns and working custom commissions.
What started off as a hobby, I am going to make end as a way of living!

Family Life
I've been married to my husband, Will, for 18 years and we have 3 wonderful and busy teenage children (MSK is derived from their initials). In our free time, we enjoy the outdoors. Whether it be going fishing on the Mighty Mississippi River, camping, catching a ball game, or just enjoying a relaxing fire in the backyard.
We also have a small "petting zoo" within our household, including 3 miniature Australian Shepherds, 5 guinea pigs, and a corn snake.

Professional Inspiration
There are many great intarsia artists, but the late Judy Gale Roberts is the one whom I strive to be like. I wouldn’t be where I am today in my MSK Marvels business if it weren’t for her.
Not only was she an amazing artist; she went above and beyond to help others (like me). She wasn’t afraid to
offer help, show you hands on in her shop, and
give constructive criticism to make you better.
Judy was, still is, and will always be my true
intarsia icon, inspiration, and friend.

Professional Highlights
I've had 4 pieces featured in Scroll Saw Woodworking Magazine.

I've earned many ribbons at the Midwest Scroll Saw and Trade Show in 2023 & 2024, including "Best in Show" both years and Woodworker's Choice" in 2024.
In 2025 I was honored to teach a couple intarsia classes and be one of the judges of the contest!

My work now proudly hangs in homes and businesses across the Midwest and beyond!
